Beltran-Zavala to open his 7th season as Music Director of OSUG

Following three years of a remarkable relationship, Maestro Beltran-Zavala will open his seventh season as Music Director of the Orquesta Sinfónica de la Universidad de Guanajuato, one of the most respected orchestral ensembles in Latin America.  The program will be no other than Mahler’s Second Symphony with concerts at the State Auditorium and Teatro del Bicentenario on August 17 and 19 respectively.

Since Maestro Beltrán-Zavala’s tenure, the orchestra has experienced an explosive growth technical and artistically and has been recognised by conductors and soloists around the globe as “currently one of the best in Latin America”.  With a strong conviction of its social responsibility, the orchestra has performed extensively in rural areas, jailhouses and poor areas simultaneously with offering a world-class programming in its base-theatres (Teatro Juarez/Teatro del Bicentenario). Among many other examples are the Shostakovich Series, the Music and Literature Series and the Mahler Series.  Not a minor point, the orchestra has also increased its ticket sales by 32% up to an average of 94% occupation per concert night.
